Training Programme on “Trade and Sustainable Development: Issues for Africa, Deadline February 10, 2012.
Horn of Africa – Regional Environment Centre/Network will co-organize a training programme on “Trade and Sustainable Development: Issues for Africa together with, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), India.
The “Trade and Sustainable Development” course module and training lectures have been developed to fit within a 3-day programme. The Centre for Global Agreements, Legislation and Trade (GALT) and the Resources, Regulation and Global Security Division of TERI and professionals from Ethiopia will conduct this important training programme to address some of the key emerging challenges on which stakeholders need to broaden and deepen their understanding as well as find out ways to deal with such challenges concerns such as the Climate-related trade measures (measures likely to be extended to non-tariff measures soon too).
In view of these, this HoAREC/N-TERI training programme will address the following:
- How trade of resources can work for development of Africa?
- How issues dealing with standards related trade measures be negotiated for the welfare of Africa?
- What are the trade performance dimensions in the context of adaptation measures for climate change in Africa?
- What are the challenges of emerging climate related trade measures for Africa?
- What are the research tools that can be adopted in Africa for analyzing key and emerging trade challenges?
The course will be conducted from 26th to 28th March, 2012.

Course Fee – The fee to participate in the training programme is 500 Birr which will meet the food and course material costs for three days.
